It is always heartening when you come across a young person who has the drive and ambition to succeed at the highest level, and that is certainly the case with Edd Phillips from Guilsfield. Edd is a vehicle technician at Greenhous Ford in Newtown and he has just achieved his Diploma as a Ford Powertrain Specialist from the Henry Ford Academy – the first stage on his route to the Masters award.

In his early life, Edd lived on a farm and helped his Dad and uncle, developing a love for all things mechanical, including helping repair his friend’s bicycles which soon evolved to basically anything with a engine! He joined a small family run business in mechanical engineering and went to College Powys for one year, before moving on to the Shrewsbury College to take a Level 4 Motor Vehicle Maintenance qualification.

He joined the W R Davies Ford dealership as it was, 9 years ago. Edd is determined to accelerate his learning and aims to achieve his Seniors Certificate around Christmas this year. With his positive attitude that will become a reality and then he will be well set for his goal of becoming a Master Tech, which will also allow him to be developing future apprentices, passing on that valuable experience gained down the years.

Edd enjoys down time with his partner and seven year old daughter. However, he still wishes to keep up his passion for rallying and marshalling at the Welsh Rally which has stages in Powys.
